Is Syria the Next Libya?

Hillary Clinton along with foreign ministers from 59 other countries met at a convention in Istanbul.  The topic of this convention was to help the rebels in Syria overthrow their tyrannic government.  This convention was called the "Friends of Syria" convention.  At this meeting the Obama administration agreed to provide communications equipment to the Syrian Rebels to help organize their troops to better enable them to win the civil war.  Overall their is no agreement among all of the members of the United Nations on whether or not to help the Syrian Rebel cause but some individual countries, such as the U.S.A., are doing their part to help.  The Friends of Syria coalition offered salaries to Rebel Soldiers, with the hope that some of the government soldiers may defect and switch side, along with giving communications equipment.


The theme of the article is that while many countries have different stances on the issue of the Syrian Civil War, the U.S. is on the side of helping Syria.  Just like when Libya had their Civil War, the U.S.A. is on the side of the Rebels fighting against their tyrannical dictator.  The article says "...the Obama administration agreeing to send communications equipment to help rebels organize and evade Syria’s military..."  This shows how the U.S. is helping the Free Syrian Army in their efforts to offer throw the government.  The U.S.A seems to usually end up on the side against a dictatorship that mistreats its people.  They have in the past year when many rebellions have occurred in the Middle East been supportive of the rebels.


I think that it is good that the U.S.A. is on the side that supports the rebels.  I think that all dictators who are horrible to their people should be put out of power immediately.  It has been said that the Syrian Dictator  is not likely to give up at all, even if it means committing mass homicide, but I hope the rebellion goes as it did in Libya and the rebels overthrow their horrible government.  I find it interesting how Syrians can support a leader who is horrible to the countries population.  Overall the Syrian Dictator needs to be overthrown by the rebels and soon.
